Daddy TV

We got a very special package in the mail today - a DVD from Mike. Mike participated in United Through Reading, a program for deployed military personnel to read to their children and send it home on a DVD. Mike picked up some books that he knew the kids would like at an earlier port visit and read five books to them.

It was so wonderful to see how engaged the kids were with the video - especially Ryan. He was very attentive and into each and every book. Mike did a great job of reading slowly and showing the kids the pictures!

Only once did my heart break a little bit -- Caitlin picked out a Thomas the Tank Engine book from our book basket and was trying to hand it to Mike through the computer. So sad, but we're so thankful for technology and its ability to keep us connected to Mike.

Here is a little video of Mike asking the kids questions and them "talking" to him:

That is the coolest thing. It was so touching seeing them try to interact with the screen. You are an amazing mom and your husband is lucky to have you.
